A gathering curated for the messy makers, thoughtful creatives & open-minded entrepreneurs. The gentle visionaries and compassionate change makers.

25 to 27 July 2024
Tarndanya (Adelaide), South Australia, Kaurna Country
Join us in-person, for two and a half days of playful, creative and encouraging activities, workshops & pep talks.
Blending the joyful nature of a North American ‘adult summer camp’ with the vibe of a creative small business summit, we’ve chosen a South Australian winery in mid-winter for campfire cosiness and sweaters over sweat patches… IYKYK.
Craving dinner party meets retreat energy, we’ll be looked after at the St Francis Winery Resort in Reynella (Tarndanya/Adelaide) with full catering and even a heated pool. Sleepovers optional but encouraged!
Before we go on, I want to share a note on pricing with you.
It may seem strange to open an event info and sales page with a note like this, but as you can probably tell I'm not interested in doing things in the expected or 'traditional' ways.
Especially as it is increasingly and devastatingly clear that the ways, systems and structures that we've been socialised, conditioned or indoctrinated into are not working for a lot of folks and are harming or neglecting so many.
With that in mind I want to try and tell the truth as much as I can. The truth of my work, my approach, my hopes, my realities and even my shortcomings. It is uncomfortable to say the least, but it is important to me to try.
My ‘quick note’, quickly became a manifesto of sorts, so if you’d like to read in full or share, you can do that here.
Blending the personal, profit, people & purpose…
Naturally, if you're interested in the ethos and experience that I’m crafting with this event and any of my programs for that matter, and you're keen to scroll on and learn more, you'll also want and need to know the ticket options and prices.
When you reach it, you might have opinions, you may think it's not enough, too much or just right, and as you sit with those thoughts, I invite you to also ponder the following considerations:
-
I aim to consider environmental impact wherever I can, for example, I only print on recycled paper and ideally in Aus, which is usually more expensive than the alternative
Local economies ~ I aim to support small or local businesses where possible, for example, the snacks in the welcome kit will be sourced from a tiny homemade business in regional South Aus, inherently more expensive than a bigger company but so much more impactful for that person, family & community.
-
I'm acutely aware that I have many privileges and inherent biases as a cis white woman in suburban australia, I have my unique perspectives but cannot and will never speak to every experience so I plan my events and offerings to include contributors from a range of perspectives, this costs money to do well.
-
On that, I believe speakers and contributors should always be paid, it may not be at their highest amount whilst I build this event but I will never ask anyone to work or speak or donate items for free (unless they offer for their own reasons of course), especially not women, gender fluid folks or people of colour. Exposure does not put food on the table, never has, never will.
-
If we're going to do something, I want everyone to feel fulfilled, supported and remunerated. I am a single mum, solo entrepreneur in a challenging economy (with no assets or savings) and need to consider costs and wages and profit and at the same time if anyone is supporting this project I want them to feel rewarded.
For transparency, I have created a sliding scale affialiate approach, where contributors agree to a base rate for their fee and then once we hit our minimum number to go ahead (32 in person), the more people attend the more they get paid. It is an experiment but I'm really excited about it and feel energized that it's a way to work together to share the word but also engage in circular economy / collective wealth in a way that feels generous and mutually beneficial.
-
The realities of running events is that they are delicious but they are detail heavy.
In this case, there is event hire, labour, catering, insurance, transaction fees, styling, printing, photography, video, professional AV for a high quality livestream, consumable art materials, take home goodies, snacks, sensory supports etc. Not to mention potential PR and marketing and so on, to reach the folks we want to be in community with. I am determined to leave no stone unturned to ensure this is the most delicious, supportive, nourishing and energising experience. You will be able to feel it. And remember it forever.
-
I have a number of charities and projects I will support with a percentage of profits because as I heard Catherine Deveny say 'every dollar you spend is a vote towards the way you want the world to work' and I am so here for that.
-
Don't know about you, but I often neglect to leave enough space for income tax, super, bank fees etc. And that doesn't serve anyone in the long run. Plus I adore (and benefit from) pay plans but they do add admin labour and fees, not as much as the mark ups you sometimes see but something to consider.
-
In regards to financial accessibility, I want to have sponsorship spots and concession spots which means I also need general admin spots for those who can fit that in their budget. I want to reach, serve and support as many folks as I can but that cannot be achieved from a place of undercharging, over-budgeting or over-working. I have learnt that the hard way in the past and with encouraging mentoring I am attempting to do that differently and set an example or a model that you can see in action.
In regards to physical or psychological accessibility, it is important to me to offer the supports required to ensure every attendee has the access they need and are as comfortable as possible. This includes offering a high quality virtual livestream ticketing option, as I have heard feedback from some folks that when many events went virtual due to pandemic restrictions it is the most included they’ve felt and now that that is happening less often they are excluded again. Same goes for those who may not be able to travel due to care responsibilities.
It is not simple to offer a high value virtual experience but I intend to keep it as a high priority of mine.
This is your invitation to reconnect to your creativity, your sense of self belonging and your community.

Thank you for being here, let’s light this fkn campfire baby!
Sometimes it can be tricky to imagine what an event like this will entail, especially in the inaugural year.
To assist with this, here are some of the key themes and questions that we’ll explore in the activities and conversations at Camp, in acrostic poem form, because of course.
A packing list for a curious life…
C is for Cultivating Courage ~ How can we be more courageous in how we express ourselves, the way we design our lives and the things we want to resist or reimagine? How do we take more courageous action?
A is for Adventurous Activism ~ What does awareness, advocacy and activism look like for us as individuals and as a collective? What do we have capacity for and what are the changes we want to see in our lives, communities and the world?
M is for Messy Magic ~ How can we allow ourselves to lean into the mess and the magic of being a creative, thoughtful, divergent thinker and human? Can getting messy be a pathway to the magic or movement?
P is for Playful Possibility ~ How do we play with possibility and cultivate more pride and peace in our experiences? How can bring joy and lightness to the way we plan and picture our creations, relationships and actions?
✿
C is for Compassionate Care ~ No matter our situation, how can we offer ourselves, our customers and our communities more compassion, grace and kindness? How do we take care of ourselves in a nurturing, self honouring way whilst also contributing meaningfully to our families, friendships and communities?
U is for Unlearning & Unravelling ~ How do we bravely engage with the unravelling of who we were, what we thought and the systems we’re in? How do we unlearn the conditioning or expectations that are affecting us and our world?
R is for Rebellious Reimagining ~ And then how do we bravely reimagine who we are, the impact we want to have and the systems we can be a part of adapting, dismantling or creating?
I is for Illuminating Ideas ~ How do we come home to our ideas? And what activities and environments ignite our creativity and illuminate our ideas and epiphanies?
O is for Optimistic Openness ~ How do we show up with an openness to new ways of doing things, unexpected opportunities and a gentle optimism that change is possible? How do we allow for surprises and synchronicities?
U is for Understanding & Untangling ~ How can we untangle our overwhelm and perceived confusion and craft it into clarity, simplicity and ease? What is there to learn or discover about ourselves or the world around us?
S is for Soul-level Solidarity ~ How can we gather in community and share in a solidarity for a world that is kinder, gentler, more peaceful and more inclusive? How can we galvanise our bystanding into allyship? How do we scrutinize our biases, privileges and blind spots and make more space for empathy and acknowledgement?
FAQs
-
We require 28 confirmed attendees for the event to go ahead. And we can host up to 80 guests! Note the room we’ve booked is usually designed for more patrons so we’re going to be extra spacious.
-
No, everything is an invitation. With up to 80 attendees, this experience is designed as an interactive multi day workshop where you’ll be invited to participate as much or as little as you feel comfortable. Everything is invitational, you can write, draw, paint, playdough or bead your way to clarity and calm.
At this size, it’s not intended for thorough one-on-one business consulting or deep personal sharing with the wider group. You will, however, have the opportunity to share within a smaller group or 2-4 attendees (if you choose) and have pockets of time solo with me (Sarah) to dig into a specific query that arises and to help you gain deeper insights and momentum.
If you desire more personalized and nuanced business consulting and creative support, you’re always welcome to book a 1:1 with me :)

Got a another question? Email camp@sarahharney.com and we’ll do our best to clarify for you!
Lastly, why?
I want us all to have the opportunity to break free of the overwhelm and stuck-ness that we can experience as creatives. Think of this as a pattern interrupt to feel less alone and more clarity and calm in our experience of entrepreneurship (and human-ness).
Creative, community-minded, divergent thinkers deserve a space where they can feel supported and tethered by encouraging facilitators and gentle frameworks without the rigid rules and structures that have been popularised online.
In creativity, life or business, there’s rarely ‘one right way’ of doing something but we often crave inspiration, prompts or guidance.
Instead of teaching ‘my way’ or a set of rules, I can offer you a guide and invitations that may nudge you, ignite you, validate or encourage you, in just the right way on just the right day, to help you see what’s possible.
I can bring together diverse perspectives from other courageous leaders that may inspire you to think about things differently.
To support you to express yourself the way you feel most comfortable, to build the offerings that are most meaningful to you, to have the impact that you want to have.
To have the experiences, the joys, the rest, that you are craving in your life and business. To co-create the bolder, gentler, fairer world we want to live in.
Here, we go boldly & gently, together.

Oh and before you go, some questions for you to play with:
1. If your life was a treasure map, what gold have you already found and what is still waiting for you to discover?
2. If the world was a playground what do you want to play, what do you want pause and what do you want to reimagine?
3. If you followed your wonderings, what would you do? Who could you be? What would you let go of?
If any answers rise to the surface, I’d love to hear them and honour you in that.
Feel free to send any wonderings to me on fb or insta @sarahharney_ or email camp@sarahharney.com x
